Steadfast in the ever-changing landscape of Myrtle Beach, the iconic Gay Dolphin Gift Cove has changed little since opening in 1946 and a rebuild after Hurricane Hazel in 1954.

The cement boardwalk that ran along businesses on the beach in downtown Myrtle Beach was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989. The damage from the storm surge not only destroyed much along the oceanfront, but also put Ocean Boulevard beneath four feet of sand.
