Festive favorite Nights of a Thousand Candles illuminates Brookgreen Gardens this holiday season

Nights of a Thousand Candles, a favorite seasonal tradition, will once again light up the nights at Brookgreen Gardens.

Last year’s Nights of a Thousand Candles kicked off with a record opening-night crowd. And if you’ve ever attended, it’s easy to understand why locals and visitors alike flock to see this special tradition lighting up the night. Brookgreen Gardens is transformed into a magical glowing wonderland, with more than 2,700 hand-lit candles illuminating the sculptures and grounds. In addition to these luminaries are countless sparkling lights, creating a festive and beautiful effect that’s not soon forgotten.

Each evening of the event also hosts a variety of great entertainment, from live music to carolers to a handbell ensemble. Currently slated for this year’s lineup are Tru Sol, the Paul Grimshaw Band and many more. Visit the website for a full schedule of performers. Guests can enjoy refreshments from beverage stations selling cocoa, cider, wine and more that are located throughout the grounds. If you wish to enjoy a full dinner in the ambiance, head to the dining tent for a delicious meal.

The event was named “Best Christmas Lights in South Carolina” by Travel + Leisure Magazine and received the 2018 Charles A. Bundy Award for excellence in tourism from South Carolina Parks and Recreation and Tourism. Keep in mind that tickets for Nights of a Thousand Candles must be purchased in advance, with a limited amount available for each evening. The event will run Thursdays through Sundays from 3 to 10 p.m., with the final night on Saturday, December 21. Tickets are $20 for members ($12 for children) and $25 for non-members ($15 for children). Celebrate the season with family and friends with this one-of-a-kind tradition.
