Local students took part in Atlanta’s Junior Theater Festival

This past weekend local students representing the Myrtle Beach Area Children's Theater in Myrtle Beach earned praise at the 2020 Junior Theater Festival, which took place in Atlanta January 17 to 19. This festival united 7,000 students and 128 educators from musical theater groups across the U.S, as well as from New Zealand, Australia and the U.K.

The Myrtle Beach Area Children’s Theater students presented selections from Madagascar—A Musical Adventure JR. Kikau Alavaro, director, actor and choreographer (Big River) said, "I enjoyed Myrtle Beach Area Children's Theater. I could tell that every young person in that show really loves doing this."

Haley Boudreau made it to the call-back for future Broadway Junior shoots for “how-to” choreography videos for soon-to-be released Broadway Junior musicals. The shoots will be taped in New York City this summer, with the final cast to be determined later this year. These videos will be used in tens of thousands of schools across the country and internationally.

Myrtle Beach Area Children's Theater’s Harrison Garrett and Allie Norton were named to the Junior Theater Festival All-Stars, made up of outstanding performers attending the festival. The All-Stars performed a song during the closing ceremony for all festival attendees.
