Join Quilts of Valor to help support local veterans

The Horry County Museum is proud to announce their 28th Annual Quilt Gala for 2022. The nonprofit Quilts of Valor foundation joins forces with local quilt-makers to provide veterans with the healing power of handmade quilts.

Since 2003, the Quilts of Valor foundation has been awarding quilts to veterans touched by war. According to founder Catherine Roberts, a Quilt of Valor is a high quality, handmade quilt that says “Thank you for your service, sacrifice and valor in serving our nation.”

The Quilt Gala will take place during the month of March. Each week, 18 new quilts will be displayed for local veterans and later awarded in a special ceremony celebrating their service. The Gala will also feature an indigo workshop at the Farm, along with a number of quilt and textile-themed speakers presenting throughout the month.

Quilts of Valor have awarded over 250,000 quilts across the U.S. since 2003, and they’re excited to add to that number during the 28th Annual Quilt Gala. The Gala is open to the public and admission is free, so be sure to stop in and marvel at these handmade creations!
