Ribbit the Exhibit heads to Brookgreen Gardens

Have a great time at Brookgreen Gardens checking out this collection of copper frogs. Ribbit the Exhibit features larger-than-life amphibians taking part in a variety of activities, from playing instruments to catching butterflies to meditating on lily pads.

The whimsical pieces were created by artist J.A. Cobb, who hand draws each image on flat sheets of copper. He then hammers and folds the sheets into three-dimensional pieces, much like origami. Once the metalwork is complete, Cobb chooses a finish to complement the piece, giving the sculpture a specific color and texture. Certain pieces also add a bit of paint to complete the look, such as a black tuxedo or starched white shirt. The pieces require little to no maintenance and can be enjoyed for generations to come.

These captivating frogs not only provide a bit of fun, but have also been proven to attract new visitors to gardens, re-engage current members and increase the public’s awareness of a garden’s mission. Ribbit the Exhibit will be on display through July 9. The exhibit is free with garden admission.
