Myrtle Beach native stars in second PBS television series
Five-time Emmy-nominated TV host and Myrtle Beach native Darley Newman debuted a new television show in January, Travels with Darley. She was previously host of the PBS show, Equitrekking.
In each episode of Travels with Darley, Newman travels with local residents and guides to inspiring, adventurous and even quirky locations as they reveal the authenticity and appeal of their home area. The first season dives deep to explore each location, giving viewers the chance to experience the unique charms of Belgium, the Guadeloupe Islands, Arkansas, Kentucky, South Carolina, Maryland and Michigan.
“In South Carolina, we biked the Swamp Rabbit Trail from Greenville to Travelers Rest, sampled moonshine at Palmetto Distillery in Anderson, ate some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever tasted at Grits and Groceries and explored the history of neighborhoods in Columbia, including Five Points South. It was fun to be able to film in my home state and hear from the locals what makes their region special and worth traveling to experience,” said Darley.
The “Southern States Road Trip” episode, which features Greenville, Travelers Rest, Anderson and Belton, broadcasts on SC-ETV on Friday, February 12, at 7 p.m. The “Road Trip” episode featuring great neighborhoods, food and presidential history in Columbia broadcasts on Friday, February 26, at 7 p.m.
