The fall season is perfect for attending festivals, with one of the most popular and palate-pleasing events taking place Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15.

The 18th annual Little River ShrimpFest commences that weekend along the historic Little River waterfront. 

Festival attendees can expect two stages of live music, stilt walkers, balloon artists, a couple hundred vendors, including a variety of art and craft merchants, business expos, and community organizations. Shrimp and other fresh, local seafood are on the agenda, and will be served by the local waterfront restaurants. Additionally, festival food favorites will be available from a number of vendors.

According to Little River Chamber of Commerce Festival Director Hubert Bullard, the ShrimpFest began as a “little sister” of the Blue Crab Festival. The Chamber sponsors both events, with funds generated from them going back into the community. 

Nearly 200 vendors have signed up for the ShrimpFest, he says, some from as far away as Idaho, Texas, and New England.

“Word spreads where the good festivals are!” he explains. ”And the economic impact from the festival is tremendous for the area.”

Shuttle rides to and from the festival gates are available. Buses will be circulating between the festival and specific parking lots from about 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Additionally, a water taxi will be available out of Grande Harbour Marina. $20/person includes a round trip on the Sea Screamer, admission into the festival, and parking at Grande Harbour. The water taxi will be available both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The boat will be running as often as possible to ensure the shortest waiting period. The last boat will leave the festival at 5 p.m.
