Brian Rutenberg, Oil on linen, 58 x 46 inches
Featuring bright colors and his own distinctive method of compressing colors and forms, Brian Rutenberg’s work Pine Lakes 7 is a welcome addition to the exhibit Synchronicity. From January 15 to April 16, Rutenberg will be featured alongside ceramist Alice Ballard at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum.
Rutenberg has over 40 years of experience, having earned his BFA in 1987 from the College of Charleston and his MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, in 1989. Since then, he has gone on to create and inspire people will his work across over 250 exhibits in North America. In addition to his exhibits, Rutenberg also has a YouTube channel, “Brian Rutenberg Studio Visits.” This channel allows viewers to see his work, understand his process and learn a little bit more about painting and color choice. In addition, Rutenberg has also published a book, Clear Seeing Place, and two monographs, Brian Rutenberg Studio Visits and A Little Long Time.
Rutenberg’s work aims to exemplify the rich colors and forms that dot the landscape of coastal South Carolina. His work is complex, with each painting creating a deep sense of place and reality within the more abstract elements of his work.
