Oil on canvas, 16” x 20” by Charles Glazer

Charles Glazer has practiced his art professionally for more than 50 years. At age 10, he was selected to enter an elite artist training program under master artist Joseph Fitzpatrick at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh–the same class where Andy Warhol studied–which he attended for seven years. He also trained at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh while attending high school. Pictured above is Glazer’s “Waitin’ on High Tide,” a work in oil displayed at The Brookgreen Gardens gift shop. In the course of his career, Glazer created countless award-winning advertising and promotional campaigns, brochures, newsletters, videos, films, commercials, billboards, annual reports, live shows and other creative communication media.

Now retired and residing in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Glazer has refocused his creative talent on oil painting that reflects the beautiful coastal and low-country ecology of the area. He does both commissioned and non-commissioned work. His art can be viewed at several Grand Strand galleries, gift shops and restaurants, including Brookgreen Gardens and Hobcaw Barony. He has been accepted into the South Carolina Artisans Center through a juried process. Whether you’re attending The Brookgreen Gardens’ National Sculpture Society Awards Exhibition in June or Hobcaw Barony’s Paddle North Inlet in July, take a moment this summer to admire Glazer’s work.
