The Carolina Opry Christmas Special brings holiday cheer in its 35th season
It’s been a difficult year for many of us, so feeling the spirit of the season is the perfect way to end a strange 2020 on a high note. The Carolina Opry Christmas Special, often referred to as “The Christmas Show of the South,” will help you find that much-needed holiday cheer.
Celebrating its 35th season this year, the show is created by Calvin Gilmore and his team, who work for months to make it an unforgettable experience with flair. The production will bring stunning changes that blend beautifully with time-honored traditions, culminating in a show the whole family will enjoy. New talent will mingle with acclaimed rotating artists and long-standing favorites of the Opry.
Special guests will join this year’s lineup, along with cast members you know and love. This includes Delvin Choice, who was seen on NBC’s hit show The Voice; up-and-coming cast member Rory John Zak; renowned clogging group All That!; Nashville recording artist Brad Long; and many more. The vocals will be accompanied by talented musicians, among them a bonus seasonal brass section. The Margaret Rice dancers and real horse-drawn sleigh and snow are also special touches.
As if the show itself weren’t impressive enough, the decor at the theater has practically been raised to an art form. The winter wonderland features 35 trees, 75 wreaths, five miles of lights, and mounds of snow, all presided over by a 30-foot Christmas tree.
The Carolina Opry Christmas Special runs through January 6, 2021, with regular evening performances and some matinees. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. COVID-19 precautions will be in place, and you can read the details of the theater’s plan on their website. Cheers to a cheery end to 2020 with this holiday extravaganza!
