The Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival celebrates its 10th year
This year will mark the 10th anniversary of this annual event, which has become an area favorite. The Dragon Boat Festival, Ground Zero’s premier fundraiser, will be held April 28 and pits teams of 20 paddlers and one drummer against each other as they race for the fastest time in their divisions. Team captains are responsible for their members, who all agree to raise a minimum of $150. If hitting the lake isn’t your thing but you’d like to contribute, sponsorship opportunities are available
The races are visually spectacular and exciting to watch, so it’s no wonder spectators flock to the banks to see the beautiful boats in action. In addition to the excitement on the water, the day will include a festival with all kinds of fun. There will be a drummer costume competition, a live DJ and an awards ceremony. There will also be plenty of food and drink vendors and other entertainment. Activities like a family fun zone and banana boat rides will be available at an additional cost.
Proceeds from the Dragon Boat Festival benefit Ground Zero, a local organization that provides positive, Christ-centered experiences to teenagers, offering a healthy alternative to what they are exposed to in today’s culture.
