The world-famous Blue Crab Festival returns to Little River this May
The Historic Little River Waterfront is home to the world-famous Blue Crab Festival. It’s one of the largest festivals in the Southeast, and has been awarded the Best Annual Event/Festival on the Grand Strand by readers of the Sun News for over 8 consecutive years! That’s no easy feat with so many great Grand Strand events.
Locals and tourists are invited to enjoy fresh, local seafood from waterfront restaurants, as well as getting your favorite festival food fix. Paired with scenic views, live beach music and a multitude of shopping opportunities, this event has so much to enjoy. Entertainment will feature a variety of local bands, including City Lights, Painted Man, Whiskey Run and many others!
In addition to regular parking and shuttles that will take patrons back and forth to the festival, a water taxi will also be available for those wishing to get the full Festival experience. For $15 per person, you’ll be treated to a round trip on the Sea Screamer, admission into the festival, and parking at Harbourgate Marina (the pick-up and drop-off point for those wishing to use the water taxi.)
The event began in 1981 as a small waterfront gathering, but it has grown exponentially over the years. As one of the longest running street festivals in the Southeast, this humble festival is now a time-honored tradition in the area for over thirty years. The event is held each year thanks to a dedicated team that consists of Little River Chamber representatives, waterfront and community business owners and event specialists. As such, any profits that the festival makes are immediately invested back into the Little River Community.
