Heather Leigh Gray, the general manager of The Market Common, is proud of the “urban village” and its success as a preeminent retail, dining, and residential destination for our area.

Once part of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, The Market Common was transformed into a vibrant community space, surrounded by beautiful scenery. This Urban Village blends residential apartments with top-tier shops, diverse dining options, and lively entertainment, creating a space where positive experiences are shared, and incredible memories are made every day.

The Market Common was the first such lifestyle center in Horry County, Gray continues, with a lovely park, lake, pedestrian-friendly trails, a dog park, nearby grocery store, and city-run recreational center.

These amenities create a place where residents and visitors can enjoy life to the fullest. “Here, you can live, work, shop, dine, and immerse yourself in the community, all without needing to get in your car!” she says.

Reflecting on her career, Heather advises aspiring business leaders to pursue what they love. “When you have a passion for what you do, you wake up each day excited to face new challenges. My advice is to follow your heart—happiness, confidence, and success will follow.”

She also believes in networking and not being afraid to reach out to mentors and others for answers and guidance.

“I have always been one to reach out to those who paved the path I am traveling and ask what they would do, or do differently,” she notes. “And my own personal motto is ‘If your ship has yet to come in, swim to it!’”
