Jamesha Gore-Coggin is the agent/owner of two State Farm insurance agencies in Horry County.
She was born and raised in Little River, SC, and in 2006, Jamesha was selected as one of the first 100 students to enroll in SC Early College High School, in which students are enrolled in high school (NMBHS) and college classes at the same time. After graduating with the two diplomas, she obtained an associate’s degree in business administration from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. She continued her education at the University of South Carolina, receiving a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in marketing and business from the Darla Moore School of Business within two years.
After college graduation, she began her career with State Farm, working for Bobby Kelly for five years, and in 2018, she was selected to open her own agency in her hometown after six months of training.
At the age of 25, Jamesha became the youngest African American female agent for State Farm in Horry County to open her own agency!
Since then, she has grown her North Myrtle Beach agency, and this year, opened a second location in Loris, marking the first time in two decades that Loris has had a State Farm agency.
In addition to being married to husband Kelly and raising a baby girl, Hendrix, Jamesha also serves on many boards, including the Destination NMB Foundation, Mcleod Health Foundation, USC Young Alumni, and numerous other local networking groups.
She’s also a consistent award winner within State Farm, including being the insurance agency’s Top 100 Agent, and State Farm Chairman’s Circle.
“I am inspired every day by knowing dreams really do come true, and this career has done that for me,” Jamesha says.
Her advice to women starting out in business: “Stay true to your authentic self. Seek a seat at the table when you have an opportunity. Surround yourself with positive people. Be comfortable in the uncomfortable, and focus on the main things to make your dream come true!”
