Elizabeth Ferraro is the co-owner and office manager of Rivertown Property Inspections in Myrtle Beach.
Her husband, Justin, started the company, which is a multi-inspector firm, in 2013. An Army veteran, he has more than 15 years of construction experience, including owning a renovation company for a time.
“After seeing one (home inspection) done, he decided that he could do this line of work just as well,” Elizabeth says. “As the company grew, I left my full-time nursing career in the trauma ICU in 2015 to join the company full time.”
RPI serves Horry and Georgetown counties, conducting home inspections along with 12 additional services.
“We all work as a team; it really is a well-oiled machine,” she notes. “Our inspectors are completely focused on the work that needs to be done and not be distracted by the details of running a business and keeping their schedules full. Our office staff efficiently answers the calls and schedules inspections, our marketing staff is able to stay in front of the agents and attend community events, and our leadership team is able to conduct training sessions and partner meetings to keep everything running smoothly.”
Elizabeth also volunteers her time with many nonprofit initiatives, including volunteering for the Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS’ Community Outreach Advisory Group, “where we complete over 30 initiatives a year that help serve the community,” such as beach cleanups, blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, Boys Girls Club job/life preparedness programs and much more. With that same organization (CCAR), she serves on the board of RAFT (REALTORS Assistant Fund Trust). Elizabeth is a Sunday School Teacher for women at Myrtle Beach Christian Church.
She also serves as the Treasurer for Women’s Council of REALTORS-Grand Strand, a nonprofit network of empowering women in leadership that’s specific to the local real estate community.
In October, a portion of every Rivertown Property Inspections home inspection goes to Caring in Our Lifetime to support local women and families with breast cancer.
For women in business starting out on their own, Elizabeth gives this advice:
“Ignore the naysayers. You can do anything you put your heart, mind, and soul into. It’s important to have a circle of people around you that are willing to support you, cheer you on, and just be there. I never thought that I would grow up owning and assisting in running a home inspection company… but seeing a dream, admiring someone that I believed in, being able to work alongside them, and having the right people around cheering us on, has made all the difference. I tell my kids all the time that with the right people and God beside you, the world is your oyster!”
God has wired Elizabeth to be a full-throttle worker who enjoys the challenge, serves with passion, and knows how to keep all of it in rhythm.
In her leisure time, Elizabeth likes to travel and golf, and says of the latter: “I’m not great at it, but I sure do have fun trying!”
