For nearly 30 years, Dawol Homes, Inc. has been working with clients in Horry and Georgetown Counties in designing and building their beautiful, custom homes.
The company was founded in 1996 by David Wolons, an ambitious general contractor and family man from Massachusetts, who had fallen in love with the Grand Strand during numerous vacations here.
Wolons successfully built up Dawon Homes, exceeding clients’ expectations with exceptional quality and customer service. In 2020, he retired, leaving his business in the more-than-capable hands of his daughter Krissy Mauldin, president, who is continuing her dad’s legacy by designing and building beautiful homes.
“I learned from my father the importance of quality construction, positive working relationships, great communication, and organization,” she notes. “Dawol Homes, Inc. can meet all the needs of a client interested in building their dream home. Our design team works closely with clients to develop the architectural plans for their home.
During this process, we make sure to design a home that complements their lot, meets all requirements of their architectural review board in their community, and we keep clients that have a budget stay within their budget.”
After the architectural plans and permitting are complete, construction begins.
“Additionally, a landscape design is created and approved before installation, including irrigation to ensure a beautiful yard year round. As a complete turnkey builder, we start with design and finish with a gorgeous custom home,” she continues. “Dawol Homes Inc. offers our clients excellent customer service, communication, and an outstanding finished product. My assistant and I work very closely with each client that walks through the door. We are the first faces that they meet and we are with them through the entire process.”
She acknowledges that building a dream, custom home can be overwhelming. “We are very organized at Dawol Homes, Inc. We will schedule all appointments for our clients with our vendors. The vendors will already have their plans, specifications, and allowance ready when they arrive… All of the client’s selections get emailed to my assistant and I. We review them thoroughly and will make any suggestions or comments if we feel it’s necessary. It is important to us that our clients have a beautiful home!”
Mauldin stays up to date on the latest home trends, continually educating herself and her team on industry updates.
“The latest trends in custom design and home building would be energy efficiency, smart technology, outdoor living spaces, and of course the open floor plan concept with large island, walk-in pantry, and a master bath with an oversized shower. No matter the size of the home, these trends are usually in the custom design. There are usually at the top of peoples “must have” list for their newly built home.”
She has sound advice for women beginning their careers:
“Knowledge and passion is everything when it comes to women in business. Educate yourself in your chosen field to build the confidence essential for success. A well-crafted business plan is crucial for setting goals, making projections, and creating budgets. Anyone interested in starting a business will need to secure financing. Networking also plays a key role; the more people that know about you and your business, the greater your chances of success. Finally, hard work and perseverance are non-negotiable!
