For more than 40 years, the compassionate and experienced team at Coastal Cancer Center has been providing Grand Strand residents with a comprehensive range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and treatment services, with four convenient locations in Myrtle Beach, Conway, Loris, and Murrells Inlet. Dr. Emily Touloukian, medical oncologist and hematologist joined Coastal Cancer Center in 2012 and has served as its president since 2021.
An Indiana native, she received her undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and her medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Illinois. She completed her internship and residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Illinois and her fellowship in hematology/ oncology at Providence Hospital in Michigan.
Dr. Touloukian is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology, Hematology, and Internal Medicine. She’s an active member of the teaching staff for the Internal Medicine residency at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where she serves as the Subspecialty Education Coordinator for Oncology. She advocates for cancer patients at the local, state and national levels through her involvement in the Medical Society of Horry County, of which she is the president, as well as the South Carolina Oncology Society and the Community Oncology Alliance serving on both organizations’ Board of Directors.
To provide the highest quality and most convenient, cost-effective services, Coastal Cancer Center has an in-house pharmacy to fill prescriptions, in-house imaging that includes PET and CT, and an in-house lab and specialty hematology testing (flow cytometry). With infusion centers in each clinic, they ensure seamless, quality care.
Dr. Touloukian and her associates emphasize a robust value system in addition to providing the very best care available. They’re also committed to involvement in community activities and outreach. From blood drives to Look Good, Feel Better programs to help patients deal with the visible effects of cancer treatment, the Center is routinely a sponsor of cancer-related events throughout the community and the leader of all advocacy-related cancer efforts.
As Dr. Touloukian notes, the Center has “walked beside thousands of patients and families through their cancer journey for more than four decades. Improving lives and creating a lasting impact in our community is a legacy we will continue to strengthen.”
