Women in Business - Brickyard Marketing and Thompson Farm at Brickyard Plantation

Christina Burzler is a busy businesswoman. She’s the owner and CEO of Brickyard Marketing as well as the managing partner of Thompson Farm at Brickyard Plantation.

She graduated from Horry–Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina University, with her course load at both institutions heavy in business, resort tourism, and marketing.

After working in local media, she opened Brickyard Marketing in 2019.

Scott Thompson founded Thompson Farm in Conway in 2009. He and Christina operate the agribusiness together.

“Marketing is my career; our farm is my Zen,” she says. “Seeing so many families come out and enjoy our farm during our Spring and Fall events is a feeling that I just can’t describe. We love that families in our community get to love our home and farm like we do.”

Brickyard Marketing is a full-service marketing company specializing in marketing strategy, management, media placement, public relations, social media, graphic design, website building and management, and special events.

Christina explains that the digital world of marketing has changed dramatically in the last couple of years.

“Social media management is one of our most sought-after services, along with digital marketing, and of course, websites,” she explains. “Consistency is key with marketing… You don’t have to do every type of marketing out there, but you do need consistency and to dominate the marketing tactics that you are investing in with strategic planning. Always have a plan-it pays off!

Thompson Farm at Brickyard Plantation is the Grand Strand’s Fall Festival headquarters, Christina says. They host movie nights on the farm, weekend Fall Festival events, Easter Egg Hunts for both adults and children, Taste of the Maze events and more.

She believes that Brickyard Marketing and Thompson Farm are leaders in their respective industries.

“Our hearts are behind both of these companies wholeheartedly. We are both personally involved in every aspect of these businesses and take pride in all of our work, which shows in both our marketing for our clients and also the experience guests receive when they visit our agritourism farm.”

“You will always see us personally operating all of our special events. Special events are our niche and we love not only planning and marketing them, but also executing them, which most agencies don’t do. Marketing has always been a passion of mine and helping clients grow their businesses is a dream come true,” she says.

Christina is the current president and prior vice president of the SC Agritourism Association, which is an association under the South Carolina Department of Agriculture. She’s also involved with Horry County Schools, for the last 10 years serving on many various committees and boards, and is a member of the Digital Arts Advisory Board at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.

As for advice for women starting out in business:

“When they say you can’t, show them you CAN. Don’t give up when things get tough, it only makes you stronger in the long run and helps you to appreciate the view even more once you get to the top,” she advises. “Don’t forget where you came from and who all helped you get where you are today. Your roots define you and are what gives you character. And lastly, hard work never goes out of style. Dream of your goals and then consistently work towards them.”
