Women in Business - Beach Aesthetics

Kirby Shergill

Kirby Shergill is a double board-certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Nurse Practitioner and owner of Beach Aesthetics in Myrtle Beach. Prior to starting her Grand Strand business in late 2020, Kirby spent her early nursing career as an intensive care nurse,  with a portion of that time spent as a travel nurse. She continues to provide anesthesia for both inpatient and outpatient services at McLeod Health.

“In early 2020, I connected with another CRNA who had started her own aesthetics practice and was inspired to do the same,” Kirby explains. “I completed my initial training through Beautiphi Academy,  with multiple cadaver courses and private trainings to follow.

Her business has grown primarily through word of mouth.  “I am so grateful for this community, and my patients are the best! They are always referring their friends or family and that is just the ultimate compliment,” she notes.

Beach Aesthetics offers all injectables (botox, filler, biostimulants), chemical peels, laser resurfacing, radio-frequency microneedling, and customized skincare regimens.

Kirby attributes her success to time well spent with patients and planning a tailored experience for them. “I ensure that I have enough time with each of my patients and my consultations are extremely thorough. My focus is always natural results; I never want to change your appearance, just enhance and refresh what you already have. I am also not afraid to tell you “no” if a treatment is not the best option for you, or if your money would be better spent on something I don’t offer,” she explains.

Pondering what advice she would give others in her field, Kirby notes: “For any nurse wanting to get into this specialty, I highly recommend getting bedside and/or primary care experience prior to transitioning to aesthetics.  This gives you the foundational knowledge needed to manage your patients and any potential complications with confidence.”

She offers encouragement to those who are considering getting aesthetic treatments. “I want to remove the stigma around aesthetic treatments. Not everything is like what you see on TV. The best injectables truly are undetectable, and a great provider will keep you looking like your best self. This specialty is rapidly evolving, and it requires a commitment to continuing education to provide the most effective treatments while maintaining patient safety.Choose a provider who attends conferences and trainings regularly. I also want women to realize that self-care ISN’T selfish. It’ s common to feel guilty about taking time/spending money on ourselves. It’s in our nature to care for ourselves last, trust me, as a nurse and mom, I 100% relate. But we have to shift our mindset to one that we are deserving of everything that we are willing to give to others.”
