Women in Business - Laney Vallancey, owner of Rockefellers raw bar and Brisket restaurants

Brisket is a unique BBQ restaurant for the Grand Strand with its Texas style house made dry rub.“Certified Angus Beef is the best beef available and because we purchase the best, we know our customers are going to get a juicy and tender bite every time,”  owner Laney Vallancey says.

Their smoker is a custom-made rotisserie Oyler BBQ Pit that was built in Texas. It weighs 4,200 pounds and will hold 750 pounds of meat. Their in-house dry rub is applied to Brisket and other meats and smoked for 12 to 14 hours every night. BBQ lovers have their favorite style sauce so they only offer four different sauces to choose from. Brisket also offers catering, and Laney’s son, Shane Whitehead, has taken full control of the pit since his dad, Jeff Vallancey passed away four years ago. With this family effort, Laney and Shane are proud to be serving up award-winning BBQ to the Grand Strand for more than seven years.

Rockefellers Raw Bar is a great local hang out and full-service restaurant.

Laney has owned Rockefellers for more than18 years. “Everything we serve is made to order. I give huge credit to my kitchen manager Andres Lemus-Guerra for doing such an amazing job creating dishes, getting the food out fast and plated up beautifully every time,” Laney says.

“My bartender, Mike Priddy, has been serving up some pretty awesome drinks for more than 20 years, too, ” says Laney.

Laney says that with the restaurant business facing huge hurdles in the last couple of years, she is thankful to all of her staff at both restaurants for their loyalty and dedication.

“Because of them, we’re here and still going strong, ”  says Laney.
