Sarah and Hayden met when Sarah was on a reunion trip with girlfriends from college and Hayden was spending a long weekend at the beach with close childhood friends from Conway. Hayden approached his future bride on the Marshwalk in Murrell’s Inlet with a cheesy pickup line, and the two immediately fell for one another.
Hayden’s proposal came after about two-and-a-half years of dating. Unfortunately, Sarah’s mother, Robyn, was very sick at the time. Hayden wanted to make sure Robyn would get to experience and celebrate their engagement, even if she might not be with them for the wedding.
Sarah and Hayden were both spending time in Connecticut with Robyn, but Hayden had to return to Greenville for work.
Unbeknownst to Sarah, Hayden would be returning the next weekend. On Oct. 18, 2020, he secretly flew up to Connecticut early and coordinated with Sarah’s childhood friend/sister, Jenna. The previous night, he had told Sarah he would be playing golf early and would call her afterwards, so she wouldn’t worry.
Instead, after his flight, he went to Greenwich’s Montgomery Pinetum Park, waited by a scenic pond and stone wall and surprised Sarah at “their spot.” Hayden took a knee and professed his love and desire to spend the rest of his life with Sarah in an emotional, happy proposal.
Sarah and Hayden were married on the lawn at The Dunes Club. She wore a Justin Alexander Faille ball gown featuring a cuffed neckline and cutout illusion V in the middle of the bodice. Her bridal party wore champagne gowns in various styles.
The groom and groomsmen wore black tuxedos.
The wedding was quite elegant and featured blue hydrangeas in honor of Sarah’s mother.
The Signature Drink for the affair was “The Finnegan,” an Irish Mule, in tribute to their dog and that St. Paddy’s Day weekend. Hors d’oeuvres, along with a carving station, pasta station, and southern station were provided by The Dunes Club, with the wedding cake made by Janet Adams. Carolina Charm Florist bestowed beautiful arrangements and the Tru Sol Band entertained the newlyweds and their guests. Photos were taken by Paula Player Photography, and wedding planner Tara Cramer ensured everything went smoothly.
The happy couple relocated from the Upstate and now make their home in Conway.
