Mary and Derek were introduced by her grandmother. After four and a half years together, the pair took a vacation to Mexico with a small group of friends. Derek proposed on a dock overlooking the ocean right before sunset, surprising Mary and even having a professional photographer there to capture the moment. The ceremony took place in the courtyard at 21 Main Events at North Beach and featured an old Hollywood/New York meets the South theme. With colors of black, white and gold, the affair was simple yet classy. The champagne flowed and Frank Sinatra played in the background with every man in a full tux. In an age of very relaxed weddings, the couple wanted their big day to feel like the weddings of an older time, with everyone dancing, laughing and dressed to the nines. Miniature honey jars served as favors and a “book frame” with wooden hearts guests could sign and drop into the back of the frame took the place of a traditional guest book. The ice cream bar and photo booth were also huge hits. Mary and Derek live just outside Little River.
