Maddy and Matt met the old-fashioned way: at a bar in Jacksonville Beach. Maddy was dressed in a pink tutu for a bachelorette party and it was love at first sight for Matt. Four years of their relationship was spent long distance, while Matt was in medical school in Alabama and Maddy was teaching in Florida. When Matt was assigned to Grand Strand Medical Center for his residency, the pair relocated to Myrtle Beach. After hearing rave reviews about the small town of Beaufort, South Carolina, the couple planned a weekend getaway. Matt proposed on the porch of the Rhett House Inn, setting the mood with music and wine before getting down on one knee. The couple celebrated by exploring the town by bike all weekend. The April wedding ceremony was held at Trinity Church. Maddy wore a lace fit and flare gown and borrowed a veil and pearl head pins from her matron of honor. A reception followed in the backyard of a private home. The feel of the day was classic, crisp and clean. Guests enjoyed Moscow mules and dined on mini tomato pies, deviled eggs, cheese biscuits, shrimp and grits, and red velvet cake. Though COVID changed their plans for their big day with just 15 family members in attendance for the ceremony, it was still the fairytale the pair dreamed of. The couple live just a block from the ocean in Myrtle Beach.
