Laura Brown & Jason Seaman

Laura and Jason’s story is a true tale of modern romance. The pair first met on the dating app Bumble, and quickly learned that they had a mutual friend—someone whom Jason had grown up with and Laura roomed with for their entire four years at Clemson University.

The couple’s first date was brunch at Rustic Table in Pawleys Island and ended with dinner at Sea Captain’s House. Coincidentally, at the time, Laura did social media work for Sea Captain’s House at the time. From there, the pair continued their relationship through long distance, alternating weekends between North Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Throughout that time, the couple traveled and introduced one another to the important people in their lives.

Eventually, Jason realized he was ready to propose, but wanted to ensure that he got Laura’s family’s blessing. After purchasing the ring on December 22, 2020, Jason called Laura’s entire family—her father, mother, and two sisters—to ask for their permission to propose.

That night, the couple had plans to walk around Park Circle to see the Christmas lights display with Jason’s family. When they ended up at the gumdrop light tree in the center, and after family photos, Jason got down on one knee, talking about his heartfelt prayers for their lives together as they’d been walking that night. Laura was so shocked that she forgot to say yes!

Their wedding was held at Point Lookout Vineyards in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The venue was on top of the mountainside, and close to Jason’s family’s mountain house, so it seemed like the perfect place. For the couple, the wedding was magical—the setting was perfect, and, due to COVID restrictions during the previous year, this was the first big celebration many had enjoyed in quite some time.

The reception was held at the same location, underneath the open-air villa. Decorations featured lots of gorgeous flowers and candles to create an intimate atmosphere. Laura and her mother made wooden bead strings for the tables and wooden bead napkin holders, and borrowed blue, vintage glasses from Laura’s grandmother to complete the look. There was a section for loved ones that had passed, completed with a hand-carved wooden piece by Laura. Overall, the feel aimed to be happy and whimsical, bringing a bit of the beach girl aesthetic to the gorgeous mountaintop background.

Laura and Jason had a wonderful list of vendors, including Scott Lee as the videographer, Lorinda Family Catering, Herron House of Flowers, and Lorraine Lordi providing the ceremony music and Tyler Bostic providing the cocktail hour music. The couple now happily reside together in North Charleston, where Laura works as an account executive and Jason works as a property manager for his family’s properties in the area.
