The Fisk Jubilee Singers

Music

The Fisk Jubilee Singers is a group of vocal artists and students at Fisk University in Nashville. The group travels the world over and keeps alive the traditions of the original Jubilee Singers, who introduced “slave songs” to the world in 1871 and were instrumental in preserving the part of American musical tradition known today as Negro spirituals. The group keeps these unique pieces alive in the modern world.
