The Awakening of German Romanticism

Music

This Long Bay Symphony performance will feature violinist Benjamin Baker. German Romantic composers drew inspiration from Beethoven’s dramatic intensity and innovations beyond the norms of the classical style, as well as from the burgeoning wave of nationalism. The result was a highly personal and emotional aesthetic that still adhered to traditional forms. Expect to hear pieces like Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
