The annual Summer Art Market at Sunset River Gallery in Calabash is the perfect time to hunt for gifts and local art. The 10,000 square-foot space offers a fun and casual setting to stroll through and enjoy art by the gallery’s 125+ North and South Carolina artists who have been invited to display their work in virtually every medium – oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, photography, and mixed media; plus functional and sculptural pottery; basketry; fiber art; pillows and décor items; hand-blown glass, fused glass, sea glass, and stained glass; turned wood, hand-crafted furniture; artisan and fine jewelry; and more.
Many of the artists will be on hand to meet with customers and visitors. There will be free pottery and painting demonstrations throughout the Art Market, along with free refreshments and gift certificate drawings. The Summer Art Market coincides with the gallery’s Small Works show, which offers out-of-town visitors the opportunity to find affordable and easy-to-pack local artwork. Locals know to come by to choose from the sheer abundance of new work.
