Organized in 1989 by Chris Marlow and Jeff McClary of Pawleys Island, SCUTE is permitted by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to protect and, if necessary, relocate turtle nests on the beaches. SCUTE coordinates volunteer efforts to preserve a quality nesting habitat and to monitor incubating nests. SCUTE is a group of volunteers dedicated to sea turtle conservation from North Myrtle Beach to Debidue Island in Georgetown County. This event is in the Wall Lowcountry Center Auditorium.
