Rice Fields Boat Tour

This informatoive four-hour event includes a boat ride as well as a tour of the largest of the villages that comprise Hobcaw Barony. On the way to Hobcaw pier, participants will drive by the lone cabin in Alderly/Oryzantia Village. At the pier, they will join Captain Paul Kenny and Foundation staff in exploring the abandoned rice fields of Alderly Plantation. Topics that will be discussed include the claiming of the rice fields, plantation history, and the story of Carolina Gold. Once back on land, the group will explore Friendfield Village, the largest of the four villages at Hobcaw Barony. Snacks, water and life jackets provided.
