Born Marie Waggaman Berl in 1901, Quita Brodhead was nicknamed “Mariequita”—“Little Marie”—by her father to distinguish her from her mother, also named Marie. She shortened this name to Quita as an adult. After graduating from convent school, she attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 101.
