Lace up your running shoes and be prepared to enjoy the beautiful aesthetics of sand and surf in this early spring race as you run along a course between Springmaid Pier and Myrtle Beach State Park for the 5th annual 5K Pier to Pier Beach Run. What’s more, all race participants will receive a custom finisher’s medal and a custom swag item. Overall awards are based on gun time: 1st Place Male & Female; 2nd Place Male & Female; and 3rd Place Male and Female. Age group awards are based on net (chip) time: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Male and Female winners. The Pier to Pier Beach Run 5K is one of five races in the Horry County Park & Recreation’s Race Series, which began in 2018 and has grown to include kayaking, biking, paddle boarding, and canoeing. “We always have a good showing,” says Ashley Cowen, deputy director of the parks and rec department.
