Newly elected Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark Kruea is at home in the Myrtle Beach City Hall, though his office has changed. Sworn in as mayor in January 2026, Kruea served as the city's Public Information Director 1998 - 2024.
In his office, Kruea juggles the duties of mayor by answering emails and texts and preparing for City Council meetings. As mayor he has one vote on issues that come before the council.
At his swearing-in ceremony in January, Kruea became Myrtle Beach's 15th mayor and will serve a four-year term.
Frequent road trips around the city are an important part of the mayor's job. It's here he makes notes on both the progress and needs of the entire city.
The mayor upholds a professional, polished appearance through regular visits to his longtime stylist, Katy Kaplan.
