An Outbreak of Peace, by Andrew Fowler, tells the true tale of a 1914 Christmas Eve truce in which a German solider climbed from the trenches, bearing a truce sign and a Christmas tree and singing “Silent Night.” Soldiers from both sides joined together to celebrate the holiday until dawn, when they returned to the horrors of a bloody war. The piece features traditional carols, original music, powerful choruses and soaring solos.
