After gracing the Women’s Leadership Conference as one of the inspirational and powerful female speakers, disco queen Gloria Gaynor is back at the beach. And this time she is taking the stage for a different reason—to wow her audience with an exclusive concert at the Calvin Gilmore Theater.
Grammy Award-winning Gaynor has performed in more than 80 countries, topping the charts throughout her four-decade career with hits like “Never Can Say Goodbye,” “I Am What I Am” and “I Will Survive.”
Gaynor is no stranger to the Strand. The New Jersey native claims her love affair started way back in the 1970s, when she performed at a local hotel for two weeks and encountered the kind of hospitality she had missed from her childhood neighborhood. Years later she would end up purchasing a condo so she could visit regularly.
Gaynor will be adding some local flavor to her show by teaming up with the Coastal Inspirational Ambassadors Gospel Choir of Coastal Carolina University and the Socastee Singers, who will perform with her in a special number.
