Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding is a classic Spanish tragedy that centers around the feuding families of a young man and woman who are in love. The plot is based on a newspaper clipping detailing the couple’s running away. Lorca uses the story to explore repression, ritual and desire, all while highlighting the characteristics of the rural Spanish community.
