Jack Mitchell’s collection of portraits documents the American art scene of New York City in an important time—the late 20th century. Including photographs of the likes of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Ellsworth Kelley, this collection shows the artist as an individual instead of having an identity expressed solely through their work. Arts magazine claimed “they are pictured as themselves and not merely artifacts of secondary importance to their art.”
