The Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art comes to the Grand Strand each year, bringing an array of cultural events. The two weeks it spans includes everything from great musical performances to a wine gala.

Gearing up for this year’s event, the Wearable Art Luncheon, a fundraiser for the festival, will be held at Tommy Bahama Restaurant at The Market Common.

This isn’t your average luncheon. A strolling fashion show will showcase new trends, as well as wearable pieces of jewelry and art created by local artists. The chance to acquire some unique pieces ranging from scarfs, hats, art, jewelry and more is available through a silent auction.

While the proceeds go to the fest, half are donated to the Kathryn Bryan Metts Visial Arts Scholarship. Metts, a Georgetown artist who passed away from cancer at age 59, earned an art degree at UNC-Greensboro. She often donated her time and her pieces to promote art throughout the community. The scholarship is awarded to a student in either Georgetown County or Alamance County, N.C. (Metts’ home before relocating to the Grand Strand.)
