Seventh Annual Shag Festval

Seventh Annual Shag Festval

The Rotary Club of Georgetown is holding its Shag Festival on Saturday, April 6th. For those who may not be so nimble on their feet, the Georgetown Rotary Club is also sponsoring a Golf Tournament on Thursday, April 4 at Wedgefield Plantation Golf Club and encouraging folks to plan a weekend in historic Georgetown during Rotary’s “Play and Sway” event week.

Friendship Place, a 501(c)(3) organization in Georgetown, is also holding a Wine Tasting event and fundraiser (“It’s a Wine Time to Make a Difference”) on Thursday, April 4 at Debordieu Country Club. Friendship Place works in the Georgetown community to feed the hungry and shelter the homeless.

In keeping with tradition, this year’s Shag Festival will be a street dance on King Street in Historical Downtown Georgetown. The Georgetown Rotary Club has raised more than $90,000 through the annual Shag Festivals to support these worthy causes.

Food and beverage will be available on site throughout the Saturday evening of the Shag Festival.

Information about these events, how to register and purchase tickets, can be found at www.shagfestival.com. Tickets for the Shag Festival can be purchased on-line or at the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, 600 Front Street; the UPS Store, 1410 Highmarket; Coffee Break Café, 716 Front St; Ball and Que Restaurant, 1808 Highmarket St., and the Pawley’s Island Bakery, 10517 Ocean Highway. Shag Festival tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets may also be purchased from any member of the Georgetown Lunch Rotary Club.
