Irish music with a twist returns to House of Blues
Formed in 1997 in Los Angeles, Flogging Molly is known for its infectious and original sound. The seven-piece ensemble takes traditional Irish music and adds a twist. When Celtic instruments like violin, mandolin and accordion meet punk rock guitar riffs, something special is created, something that fans of the band cannot get enough of. With songs covering topics like Ireland’s history, drinking, politics, religion, love and death, the band’s five studio albums have all charted in the United States. Float, the group’s 2008 release, including the two singles, “Float” and “Requiem for a Dying Song,” reached No. 4 on the charts.
The band’s newest album, Speed of Darkness, was released in May 2011 and has been well received. Flogging Molly is noted for on-stage intensity, so come prepared for an exceptional performance.
