Myrtle Beach designer Sally Stowe Currence has made a comfy home for her family at The Pointe
“Love it,” Sally Stowe Currence says of her new condo lifestyle. Why? Simplicity, security, privacy—and the view. It was six months ago that the twelve-year Myrtle Beach resident traded a traditional home for this stacked flat at The Pointe. Upon entering the abode, one is carried into a tile expanse stretching from kitchen to marsh. “Our own world,” says stepson Jon. But it doesn’t feel like the one large room it is. Sally, an interior designer, broke up the space into small sitting areas, around the grand piano, along the French daybed—all winding around to a rough-hewn dining table just begging to host family and friends that she and her husband love to entertain.
Upon touring the all-inclusive space, Stowe’s signature Tuscan-inspired eclectic taste becomes apparent. There’s a stone shower the size of your college dorm room, and a dream-of-a-dressing-area with attached laundry and walls of mahogany storage. Antique French bronze lamps and blue-and-white china pop up in every setting. The wall-hanging above? “She’s called ‘Queen of the Nile,’” the designer says casually of a favorite flea-market find. Her antique collection comes from big-city shopping as well as Charleston, South Carolina, High Point, North Carolina, and local favorites like Studio 77, B&B Antiques Mall, and her own Sally Stowe Interiors. Seeking a home as perfectly appointed as Sally’s? She advises designing to your lifestyle, and “Don’t buy it if you don’t love it!”
