(From left to right): The lighter Garden Fold, the sweet treat Cinnamon Roll French Toast, and the Savory Sunrise Breakfast Burrito, all plated to perfection.
Salt meets honey in tasty harmony in Myrtle Beach’s new Salt & Honey Grill. Family-owned, the lovely breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant took over a tired, old pancake house and gave it a much-needed makeover.
Hexagonal honeycombs creatively pops into the large dining room’s décor, from lighting to tabletop accents to artwork and a larger-than-life, hand-painted mural of honeybees crawling from their hive to land on vibrant flowers petals under a bright, blue sky. It’s cute and cozy, with throw pillows dotting the banquette seating lining tables and more tables scattered throughout the rest of the layout.
Salt & Honey’s menu is laden with options that make it difficult to decide on one, which actually makes it an easy decision to make a return visit to sample some more. Brunch starters include their signature Salt & Honey Beignets, a half-dozen serving of warm, French-style beignets dusted in powdered sugar with a side of blueberry compote and whipped honey butter for dipping.
Order a dish from their Favorites section, a Southern twist on classic dishes, like the Salt & Honey Surf & Turf, a grilled ribeye, two fried green tomatoes, and a lump crab cake topped with a chipotle hollandaise and microgreens.
Sweet breakfast treats include pancakes and toasts, such as the Cinnamon Roll French Toast smeared with vanilla icing, topped with fresh berries, and served with a cute mini bottle of real maple syrup, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. You can level up the sweetness even more by adding a brunch sundae.
Choose from any of Salt & Honey’s omelettes, Benedicts, or skillet combinations – or go with a light fare option like the House Granola Bowl (Chobani Greek yogurt layered with house-made granola, blueberry compote, fresh berries, banana slices, and a drizzle of honey) or The Garden Fold (an egg white omelette filled with broccoli, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, and goat cheese, served with gluten-free toast and fresh fruit).
If you’re leaning more toward lunchtime, there are a variety of creative sandwiches served on a brioche bun, like the Fig Jam Burger or the Southwest Chicken Sandwich (a grilled or fried chicken breast topped with avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, and bacon), salads, and soups.
From the bar, there are coffees, teas, juices, and mocktails, as well as drinks that are stronger, such as an impressive blend of mimosas, mojitos, wines and sangrias, Bloody Marys, and specialty cocktails, such as the Campfire Kentucky Mule (Crown Valley bourbon, ginger beer, maple syrup, lemon juice, and marshmallows).
Salt & Honey Grill is an elevated daytime meal destination that has been perfectly executed down to all of the details.
