One of the Area's Largest Oyster Roasts

Marking its 17th year, Shuckin’ on the Strand Oyster Roast remains one of the area’s largest oyster roasts. It’s open to the public, and there will be plenty of oysters, accompanying food, and fixings.
Hosted by the Grand Strand Young Professionals, Shuckin’ takes place at the Hot Fish Club on Saturday, February 7 in Murrells Inlet, with all proceeds benefitting Substitutes for Santa, an annual event hosted by GSYP each December that helps give 150 Horry County students a magical Christmas, complete with gifts and entertainment.
“Shuckin’ on the Strand has become a beloved tradition,” notes Isabella Cenatiempo, Business Development Programs Manager, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and Grand Strand Young Professionals liaison.
“What started as a small gathering has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the season, drawing hundreds of attendees who come together to enjoy fresh oysters, live music, and a true taste of coastal culture. It’s a celebration of community and the laid-back charm that makes the Grand Strand so special.”
Attendance is limited and purchasing tickets in advance is recommended. Adult tickets are $50, which includes all you can eat oysters, one plate of chicken bog and fixin's, and two beers. Take home a commemorative oyster shucker for $10, available as an option in ticket purchase. A child’s ticket (12 and under) who doesn’t eat oysters, can dine for $10. Adults who do not eat oysters can purchase a $20 ticket, which will include one plate of chicken bog and two beers.
“If you have never attended an oyster roast, this is the perfect opportunity to spend some time outdoors, enjoy authentic Low Country cuisines, soak up the breathtaking view of Murrells Inlet, all while experiencing something new and for a great cause," explains Cenatiempo. "Grand Strand Young Professionals is a part of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber and works to connect, engage and empower emerging leaders throughout the Grand Strand. Substitutes for Santa is one of the main ways we give back to our local community each year."
