Almost five miles of the original Kings Highway can be found on Hobcaw Barony. This hike will take a four-mile roundtrip hike of the historic by-way which began as an Indigenous Peoples trail and was later joined with the 1,300-mile road built at the royal command of Charles II. Points of interest include longleaf pine forests where the formerly endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker nests, a cemetery for plantation owners and members of the famous Caines decoy carving family, a canal dug by enslaved people to flood rice fields, and the ferry landing at Frasers Point. Reservations required.

Hobcaw Barony, 22 Hobcaw Rd. Friday, 1-4 p.m. $38. (843) 546-1623, hobcawbarony.org
