Rachel and Robert (who goes by Bo) are known by all to be a fun, loving, down-to-earth couple who have been in each other’s lives for a long time. Which was probably fostered by the fact they both came from huge families that love to gather and have fun.
After about 12 years of dating, Bo planned a surprise proposal two days before Christmas in the Episcopal Church Garden Charlotte, where Rachel grew up attending and, most importantly, where her late mother, Beth, was laid to rest.
“It was a very special moment, and we were able to spend time alongside her during the holiday season,” says Rachel. “And then family and friends joined for yet another surprise celebration at our favorite pub in Charlotte after the proposal. It was a Christmas for the books!”
Rachel and Bo’s vision for their wedding day on October 12, 2024, at DeBordieu Club in Georgetown, South Carolina, was to mirror the perfection of their proposal by drawing inspiration from the elements that made their bond so special: family, fun, and a little bit of magical sparkle.
“We knew we wanted to create an atmosphere that felt lively and exciting,” says Rachel. “It had to be a celebration with lots of energy and moments that people would remember.”
The two tied the knot outdoors on the picturesque DeBordieu lawn by the water, surrounded by lovely flower arrangements bursting with pops of color.
Rachel walked down the aisle in a gorgeous, slim-fit spaghetti strap gown. Her bridesmaids complemented the ceremony’s color palette, donning flowing floral print gowns in shades of blue and violet.
For the Kecks’ wedding ceremony and reception, guests were indeed treated to a unique, eclectic mix of bright flowers and tent decorations that created a relaxed, yet elegant vibe. It’s as if DeBordieu was an extension of their personalities: vibrant, punches of color, and fun.
The massive reception tent featured string lights, which transformed the venue into a stunning, ethereal setting. The glow added depth to the ambiance, bringing the night to life. One of the standout features of the Kecks’ reception was the disco balls suspended above the dance floor, reflecting light in every direction.
“We wanted to add a touch of fun and glamour to the space,” says Rachel. “The disco balls were the perfect way to create a lively, celebratory vibe.”
More reception highlights included the added fun of funky hats and oversized sunglasses to liven up the dance floor to get everyone into the spirit and level up the amazing energy.
For Bo and Rachel, the newlyweds say their special day was everything they dreamed of, filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with the people who mattered most to them.
“It was a perfect reflection of who we are as a couple: fun, down-to-earth, and deeply connected to the people we love,” says Rachel. “The night ended with streamers and a golf cart exit. It truly was one of the nights we will never forget.”
