Myrtle Beach has been crowned many things over the last few years—from our popular beaches to our fast-growing population—and the latest accolade comes from LinkedIn, which lists Myrtle Beach as one of the 2025 Top Cities on the Rise which was announced July 15, 2025.

LinkedIn’s inaugural list reveals 25 smaller and mid-sized cities (less than 2.5 million residents) across the United States that may be overlooked, but are quietly and quickly becoming hotspots. Data-driven, this report features metros where career growth is booming, with notable spikes in hiring, professional migration, and new job creation.
We all know that Myrtle Beach is renowned for tourism, but now our area is attracting more long-term workforce opportunities, year-round talent, and investment, especially in the healthcare and logistics fields. And smaller cities like ours offer more affordable options versus major cities, like New York or San Francisco, for those looking to relocate, switch industries, or grow their careers locally.

How did we earn our spot on the list? LinkedIn’s methodology involved analyzing year-over-year growth in hiring, jobs, and migration. These insights reflect the activity of LinkedIn members, where new opportunities are fueling that growth.
Here’s a closer look at LinkedIn’s three metrics:

  • Hiring: Year-over-year hiring growth in the metro area
  • Jobs: Year-over-year job growth in the metro area
  • Migration: Year-over-year growth in the inflow-outflow ratio (total inflows divided by total outflows), which measures the number of inflows to the market area for every outflow; in other words, for every one person leaving the market area, how many enter.

Lastly, to nail down the population cap for each city, LinkedIn focused on metro areas that met key performance thresholds in all three core metrics, specifically, cities that ranked in the top 50th percentile or higher. The population cap is intended to spotlight emerging labor markets and growing communities, and that means metro areas with more than 2.5 million members, such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, for example, were not included. On top of that, to make sure that the list indicates net-positive migration trends, cities that experienced more residents leaving than arriving over the past year were also excluded.
