A Gershwin Centennial Celebration

A Gershwin Centennial Celebration

In 1924, Rhapsody in Blue, by Broadway composer George Gershwin was premiered, changing the course of American music and establishing the idea of “Symphonic Jazz.” Gershwin’s brief but meteoric career produced additional masterpieces like the full-length Concerto in F for piano, the symphonic poem American in Paris and Cuban Overture. Join the Long Bay Symphony and Philip Powell for a musical celebration of this American musical icon! Myrtle Beach High School Music & Arts Center, 3302 Robert Grissom Pkwy. Sunday, 4 p.m. $33+.
