Known for his love of Murrells Inlet and surrounding environs, in addition to his brilliant black-and-white photography and insightful essays, C.E. “Chip” Smith has compiled a book called A Pocket Wild: Notes from a Carolina Marsh. These essays grew from articles published in his weekly newspapers The Inlet Image and Barefoot Messenger, and in his former Lowcountry Companion. Smith’s essays celebrate the Inlet and its beauty, while also examining the effects of economic development. After lunch, the author will adjourn to My Sister’s Books (13057 Ocean Hwy #C, Pawleys Island) to sign stock and chat. Hot Fish Club, 4911 U.S. 17 Business, Murrells Inlet.
