Cameron and Ireland held a summer wedding under a veil of live oaks

The relationship between high school senior prom dates Ireland Carroll and Cameron Bodge originally began as friends. That evolved into dating for five years, which then naturally led to a romantic proposal.
“It was a complete surprise!” says Ireland. “I had just been at the beach for my friend’s birthday, I was in a bathing suit and coverup, no makeup, and crazy hair … Cameron asked me if I wanted to take our yellow lab, Maggie, on the boat for a quick ride and to fish for a little. I was standing on the bow of the boat fishing, Cameron called my name, and I turned around and he was down on one knee! It was a special, private moment between the two of us. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect proposal for us.”
The only day that could upstage their perfect proposal was their picture-perfect wedding day, held on June 24, 2023, at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club in Pawleys Island. Ireland describes her vision for the day as timeless, with white flowers spilling everywhere, even out of the chandeliers hanging from inside the tent. Also in the tent was a layout of round bars, lounge areas, a checkered dance floor, and lit-up acrylic signs of their married name, Bodge, scattered throughout.
The Bodges’ wedding party was dressed to the nines. Ireland exuded timeless fashion in a simple, long fitted gown with a low back, reminiscent of the style of the late Carolyn Kennedy’s wedding dress. Her bridesmaids sported varied styles from the Show Me Your Mumus bridal line in the Champagne Luxe Satin shade. Cameron and his groomsmen wore black tuxes handcrafted with Brackish feather bowties hand-crafted in Charleston.
At the reception, the couple offered guests food stations, including a shrimp and grits station, a Mexican station, a pasta station, and a dip station. The open bar featured their specialty drink, “Maggie’s Mojito” after Ireland and Cameron’s precious pooch, Maggie. Desserts served were the four-layer wedding cake homemade by The Trestle Bakery in Conway stuffed with layers of vanilla and strawberry, and sweet treats from the candy table. An extra touch was the delivery of a late-night snack: Chick-Fil-A sandwiches.
Additional highlights from the special night was a live painter capturing the scenes of the reception, a 360-degree photo booth, a sand unity ceremony performed by the newlyweds at the reception, a kids area, and invitations for guests to take pictures using a Polaroid camera and inserting them in their Guest Book. “Our getaway car was the same car that Cameron asked me to prom in: his grandfather’s 1962 Corvette,” says Ireland.”
Today, Ireland, a teacher at Coastal High School in Myrtle Beach, and Cameron, a head technician at Coastal One Source, live in Murrells Inlet.
