La Bella MD is a Medical Spa, was founded in 2018, and opened its Oleander Drive clinic in 2020.

Karen, from Tom’s River, N. J., worked and studied in New York City, where she began her aesthetics career as an electrologist. Through this work, she developed a passion to empower others and make women feel better about themselves. Also, Karen became a photographer in NYC, and still enjoys that passion today. She moved to Myrtle Beach in 2004, and is married with two children. 

Summer, a Nashville native, started her career in massage therapy and moved to Myrtle Beach in 2001. In 2005, she transformed her career by studying to become a financial advisor. Today, Summer is a Regional Vice President for Primerica Financial Services. She is also partnered in Coastal Holistics, The Mist Spa at the Caribbean Resort, and the Coastal Spa at Marina Inn Grande Dunes. Her entrepreneurial spirit continues with her teams and she is passionate about helping carry out their visions. She is married with one daughter. 

Karen and Summer met in 2004 working at the same salon and spa and have been connected in life and business ever since. Karen is also a licensed financial representative (Division Leader) in Primerica Financial Services with Summer. They both have a passion for travel, art, and personal growth.

La Bella MD gives back to the community by raising money and supporting New Directions of Horry County and the Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre. Summer is also Treasurer of the Fidelis Foundation, a charity that works with agencies in Horry County to provide Equine Assisted Learning for youth who have experienced trauma. Fidelis Foundation mentors both equine and personal life skills. 

Karen and Summer give this advice to women just starting out on their own: “Stay driven, put your team first, push others up, find your purpose, and become passionate about it. Find mentors, consult with them, and do what they tell you to do. Set goals, believe in yourself, and surround yourself with like-minded people. Follow your heart, use your resources to serve others, and let God use you to carry out His purpose for your business.”
