The new Tavern in Surfside across from Queen’s Harbour is a sister location to Tavern in the Forest, Carolina Forest. Surfside locals are eating it up. Choose to sit inside the cool, funky dining room ambiance and bar area or dine alfresco on the charming covered patio. The Tavern’s menu is long and diverse, including oysters fried Calabash-style, Tavern Nachos, Duck Wontons stuffed with duck bacon and cream cheese, Seared Ahi Tuna on a bed of their signature zucchini slaw, soups, salads, creative pizza combinations, burgers, comfort food entrees, such as the Tavern Pot Pie and more. The bar taps into a lineup of local craft beer, wine and signature cocktails. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays; live music takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

As the name implies, this new venue has become the gathering place for locals to eat, drink and celebrate in Pawleys Island. Local was born from the owners’ longtime friendship and their vision of using locally sourced ingredients and their commitment to the local community. Local, a hidden treasure under the live oaks in the Hammock Shops, serves up a brunch menu until 3 p.m. (Huevos Rancheros, biscuits, and more), lunch and dinner, with fresh seafood and Southern specialties.

There’s nothing more refreshing than a garden overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables planted in the backyard of a restaurant. And that’s exactly what you’ll find at the all-new Austin’s Harvest Restaurant within Brookgreen Gardens (located by the Rainey Galleries). The Harvest joins the family of Austin’s restaurant mainstays in Pawleys (Ocean One and Cabana Café) open for lunch daily by Bethea’s Garden that’s harvested by Brookgreen’s horticultural department and supplier for the restaurant’s menu.

The recently opened Bar 19 Twelve shakes things up with some of the hottest hand-crafted cocktails in North Myrtle Beach. Indoors, the bar/lounge is sexy; outdoors, the deck of this repurposed wedding chapel is peacefully sublime, with views of the Azalea Sands Golf Club. The back of the house shines in the spotlight as well, serving a menu of elevated tapas and pub fare, from Hawaiian-Style Poke Tuna to Lamb Lollipops and everything in between.

This new fine dining restaurant is tucked onto the south side of the Grande Dunes Marketplace on the north end of Myrtle Beach and has already been winning over foodies (and if you haven’t been here, you will, too). The dining room is lovely, wrapped in a curved panorama of windows. A musician often plays soft background music on the keyboard to round out the setting. Superior customer service “abounds.” And the menu proudly features locally sustainable, scratch-made ingredients and stocks, with most meats and cheeses dry-aged and pulled in-house.

Neighboring Abundance in the Grande Dunes Marketplace off of 82nd Avenue North, Drift is the place for brunch and lunch (they close at 3 p.m. daily). This is an ultra-cool corner café, highlighted by a pretty patio for dining alfresco and, inside, a rustic sliced wood wall art feature, hand-carved hardwood dining tables, and rows of windows trimmed by recycled tobacco farm windows. The menu also heightens the senses, with a creative variety of egg scramblers, Benedicts, protein power bowls, garlic aioli, grilled octopus, soups, salads, and sandwiches and more. Plus, you must order one of their delicious Bloody Marys, mimosas or ice coffee brews.
